Consulting firm Reputation Institute published a ranking of the most respected countries in the world in 2013. For its preparation was conducted a survey of over 27,000 citizens of the Big Eight. Respondents were asked to assess each of the 50 countries on the following criteria: the credibility of the country, admiration, respect and closeness to the country.
The European countries are in the lead in the ranking with the seven representatives. On the second line of the rankings is located Sweden, and the two other Scandinavian countries - Norway and Finland - have taken the fifth and eighth lines.
The survey also assessed the reputation of the government, country's economy and living conditions. In particular, Sweden has taken such a high place in the ranking thanks to successful socio-economic policy. Switzerland in third place ranking is raised by natural beauty, attractive way of life, safety and favorable conditions for business.
Political and social stability has allowed Oceania, Australia and New Zealand take place from fourth to seventh. U.S. climbed to 22th place, improving the rate by one position compared to last year.
Experts believe that the credibility of the country is important for the development of the tourism sector and attract investors. Nicolas Georges Trad, Managing Partner of Reputation Institute, argues that rising reputation by just five points leads to an increase in the country's income from tourism as much as 12%.
Many countries tend to see themselves in a better light than the rest of the world. For example, evaluation of Russian citizens of their country's reputation was 33 points higher than the real score. In the eyes of foreigners, Russia is in fifth place at the end. The same situation exists in China, where internal evaluation bypassed external 31 points.
It is interesting that the citizens of Spain estimated country by 7 points worse than it did in the whole world. Despite the unemployment and serious problems with the economy, Spain remains one of the most popular country for tourism and recreation.
